The Forced Hand
Well, I got my hand forced by my own stupidity. I had been planning on waiting a few more months before upgrading to the latest stable branch of Drupal (7.x) for my site. I was hoping that module support would mature in that time.
But then, stupidity struck. Hard.
I've been learining how to use Drush to manage my various drupal installs. All was going well. Very well in fact. Until I saw that there had been a security update to drupal core. So I went ahead and updated the site.
It wasn't pretty.
I had built the site based on the Acquia Drupal download, rather than a stock Drupal. So something was different, and different enough that it blew away all the module, theme and block settings.
The site looked worse than ever. No theme, no styling, nothing but a bunch of blog postings.
Well, things can't get much worse I thought, and jumped into learning how to do the 6.x to 7.x upgrade, using Drush. So much more plain. Have a few issues to work out, but by and large the site is back. It has blocks and themes and modules. A few content types are missing, mostly CCK stuff from 6 that I need to port to Fields API for 7, but that will come in time.
Aside from that. Enjoy Drupal 7.
